A full day kindergarten program
No longer a year to prepare for "real" school, kindergarten has become the first
year of formal schooling. Through exposure to our academic program and strong
emphasis on language, mathematics and science, your child will be fully prepared
for first grade.
We have a wonderful literacy program that stresses phonics. We give each child
a heavy exposure to reading and writing, letter recognition and sentence structure.
However, keep in mind that learning to read requires that a child be ready - the
light bulb for reading goes off in different children at different ages. If your
child cooperates and works hard, he will leave Creative Beginnings with good
literacy skills.
We hope to keep the children excited about learning and school and provide an
atmosphere that fosters creativity and curiosity. This will be not be accomplished
by rote practices and sitting at desks, but in teacher directed small groups and
by self-paced learning.
Our
kindergarten reading program
follows the State of Maryland standards. Teachers will evaluate the children regularly
on these benchmarks and the results will be reported to parents. Click here to learn
